Eurozone manufacturing PMI drops to 45.2 in Nov: data

2024-12-03 12:37 Last Updated At:13:07

The Eurozone Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) fell to 45.2 in November, down from 46.0 in October, according to the data released by S and P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank on Monday.

The index has continued to stay below the critical 50-point threshold since mid-2022, which separates expansion from contraction. The prolonged decline underscores ongoing economic contraction in the Eurozone.

Among the Eurozone's major economies, Germany, France, and Italy experienced the sharpest declines in manufacturing PMI in November.

The data also showed significant drops in new factory orders, production, purchasing activity, and inventory levels across the region's manufacturing sector.

Cyrus de la Rubia, chief economist at Hamburg Commercial Bank, commented that there are no signs of short-term improvement for the Eurozone's manufacturing PMI, signaling continued challenges for the sector.
