China opposes U.S. deployment of medium-range ballistic missiles in the Philippines, and urged the United States to stop aggravating geopolitical confrontation, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Thursday.
Lin made the remarks in response to the reports that the United States has no immediate plans to withdraw a mid-range missile system deployed in the Philippines, despite Chinese demands.
"China is gravely concerned over the relevant reports. With regard to the deployment of medium-range ballistic missiles by the U.S. in the Philippines, China has made clear its opposition on multiple occasions. The relevant move seriously turns back the wheel of history, threatens national security in the region and aggravates geopolitical confrontation, which has aroused high vigilance and concern of countries in the region," Lin said.

China launched 20 international air freight routes and increased more than 60 weekly round-trip flights in September, intensely weaving the country's network of air cargo routes.
From January to September, a total of 127 new international air freight routes were launched nationwide, and more than 370 round-trip flights were added every week, according to data from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP).
Of the international routes, intra-Asia routes dominate with 65 routes, followed by 39 routes to Europe and 18 to North America.
The international routes are operated by 62 airlines, including 17 domestic carriers and 45 international ones.
Cross-border e-commerce goods, fresh goods, electronic products, and auto parts take the majority of the exported goods shipped through these routes.
The rapid development of the cross-border e-commerce and the export growth of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products drive up the demand for air freight service, analysts believe.
