China has currently discovered 173 types of minerals, of which 45 types have reserves ranking among the top of the world, according to the country's Ministry of Natural Resources on Tuesday.

In 2023, China discovered large-scale gold mines in eastern Shandong Province, lithium mine in southwestern Sichuan Province, and molybdenum mine in central Henan Province, which further consolidated China's advantageous position in tungsten, molybdenum, antimony, crystalline graphite, and phosphate reserves, and thus further promoted the resource guarantee capabilities required for strategic emerging industries, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, China is constantly improving its mineral exploration capabilities, with its natural gas hydrate exploration and development technology and geochemical exploration technology achieving world-leading level, and its aviation gravity and aviation electromagnetic detection technologies reaching international advanced level, according to the ministry.
