With the seventh China International Import Expo approaching, global exhibitors are gearing up to showcase their most exciting new products at the event in Shanghai starting Nov 5.

According to the CIIE Bureau, more than 70 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the country exhibition section of the CIIE. Norway, Slovakia, Benin, Burundi, Madagascar and UNICEF will participate for the first time, and the total number of exhibitors in the section is expected to exceed that of the sixth CIIE.

In recent days, at the Argentine National Pavilion of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) Perennial Exhibition and Trading Center, Argentine exhibitors have already debuted nearly 10 new products they will bring to the expo for the first time, including cooking oils, beef, seafood, and highly caffeinated teas.

"Going into new types of products here for the Chinese consumers like olive oil, like mate tea which is one of our main teas that we drink, and at the same time we're looking to expand to other types of products just like leather products or more fashionable products that still we are developing here in China," said Federico Nahuel Lopez Brusau, Commercial Consul of the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic in Shanghai.

Turkish businessman Ramazan has participated in the CIIE for several consecutive iterations. During this year's expo, he will also showcase new products.

"We have two kinds of food and beverage. [For] food, actually we are focusing on Turkish dry fruits and beverages [from Türkiye]," said Ramazan.

Ramazan has been engaged in the import and export of traditional commodities in China for 15 years. He stressed that the import expo has created a platform for exchanges between China and the world, and he has great confidence in the future of the Chinese market. Currently, he is intensifying negotiations and cooperation and plans to bring China's new energy products to Türkiye before 2025.

"We will be soon [be involved in] the new energy systems solutions for home or car or battery safe systems. We are focusing and we have already [been working] with one Chinese company, Xinyi Electric Corporation for Türkiye and China. We will distribute this company in Türkiye beginning in 2025, so I think this is also some of the future business," he said.

Delegation of mainland university students, teachers wraps up Taiwan visit

A delegation of 40 students and teachers from seven Chinese mainland universities on Thursday wrapped up their nine-day visit to Taiwan. They set off for Taiwan on Nov. 27 and visited universities, historical sites, scenic spots, as well as sports, sci-tech and cultural venues on the island, widely engaging with locals throughout the tour.

The delegation made the tour at the invitation of the Taiwan-based Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation.

"The young people from both sides of the Strait share the same root, and we are having a harmonious communication this time. We also welcome young people from Taiwan to visit the mainland for exchange," Cao Yibo, a student from Peking University, told reporters during the tour.

The delegation included table tennis Olympic champion Ma Long who studies at Beijing Sport University, and air rifle Olympic champion Yang Qian of Tsinghua University.

"In the future, I would like to visit Taiwan again. I did not expect that so many compatriots in Taiwan would come to welcome and us and pay so much attention to our exchange tour," Ma said.

Hsiao Hsu-tsen, executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation, saw off the delegation at the airport on Thursday, and said the mainland students and teachers had received Taiwan residents' heartfelt welcome wherever they went.

"The farewell dinner party was held yesterday evening, when almost all students from the mainland shared their feelings. What moved me so much is that every one of them thanked people here, because the latter sincerely and warmly welcomed them wherever they went during the nine-day tour. They told me that when they go back, they will tell their relatives and friends that people in Taiwan are kind, hospitable and warm. I believe that is the most important purpose of the exchange across the Strait," he said.

Calling youth exchanges a foundation of cross-Strait relations in the future, Hsiao said the foundation will carry on and continue to promote such exchanges across the Strait.

This is the second delegation of mainland teachers and students visiting Taiwan at the invitation of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, following the visit by a first delegation in July last year.
