Innovative pet products eye-catching at Canton Fair

⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠A dazzling array of pet products featuring smart technology and eco-friendly designs that cater to diverse consumer needs are eye-catching at the ongoing China Import and Export Fair in south China's Guangzhou City.

Popularly known as the Canton Fair, the biannual event is the largest trade fair in China. The third phase of the 136th fair takes place from Oct 31 to Nov 4 in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, with a focus on products such as toys, maternity and baby products, household textiles, sports and leisure commodities.

At the exhibition area for pet products, buyers can find everything from pet food and toys to clothing and medical supplies.  Many innovative items are also making their debut. 

One of the eye-catching exhibits is a smart cat litter box featuring a detachable design for easy cleaning. Equipped with anti-jam technology, it ensures the safety of pets during use. On top of that, the device can automatically sift the litter at the touch of a button via a dedicated app, which can save time and effort for busy pet owners.

"Given the rapid increase in the number of pets and pet owners, this market is quite promising," said exhibitor Yu Youkai.

The exhibition also highlights the rise of multi-purpose products. For example, a three-in-one pet safety jacket has a detachable dual-layer design that adapts to changing weather conditions. Its outer layer is made from windproof and waterproof materials, and it even includes a glow-in-the-dark accessory that keep the pets safe with high visibility during outdoor activities.

"I'm really looking for anything innovative something that stands out from the market already, any type of products like that, that have a competitive advantage that I could take over into the U.S. or Canada," said Joel, an overseas buyer. 

As the pet economy continues to heat up, the demand for diversified and specialized pet products is on the rise, with a special emphasis on smart technology, sustainability, and versatility, which not only enhances the safety and comfort of pets but also provides better pet-keeping experience for humans.

China's Shenzhou-23 manned spaceship has entered its designated orbit after successfully blasting off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center late on Sunday night.

The spaceship, atop a Long March-2F carrier rocket, lifted off from the launch site in the country's northwest at 23:08 Beijing Time (15:08 GMT).

About 10 minutes after launch, the spaceship separated from the rocket and has now entered its designated orbit as it prepares for the docking procedure with the Tiangong space station.

The mission's three crew members, including commander Zhu Yangzhu and fellow astronauts Zhang Zhiyuan and Lai Ka-ying, are in good condition, while the launch was declared a complete success by Li Benqi from the launch center.

The Shenzhou-23 spaceship will perform a fast, automated rendezvous and docking with the radial port of the space station's Tianhe core module, forming a combination of three modules and three spacecraft.

After completing a handover of the Tiangong space station with the Shenzhou-21 crew, the Shenzhou-23 astronauts will start their mission, and one of them will conduct a one-year in-orbit stay, double the usual duration of previous Shenzhou missions.

Notably, astronaut Lai Ka-ying is also the first astronaut from China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Shenzhou-23 marks the 40th flight of China's manned spaceflight program and the seventh manned flight mission since the Tiangong space station entered its application and development phase in late 2022.
