China has officially launched its first testing platform capable of evaluating the takeoff and landing performance of aviation tires under complex conditions.

The platform in Guilin City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, aims to verify tire performance and ensure safe flights as Chinese manufacturers become increasingly involved in innovation in the aviation industry.

As the only component in direct contact with the ground during an aircraft's takeoff, landing, and taxiing, aviation tires play a critical role in ensuring flight safety.

The newly launched testing platform can simulate takeoff and landing tests for tires under complex conditions such as "ultra-high acceleration takeoff, ultra-high loading rates, and foreign object damage tests," all while indoors. It provides data support and validation for the development of civil aviation tires.

At the complex-condition aviation tire takeoff and landing testing platform run by Guilin Lanyu Aircraft Tire Development, a tire model under development has just completed a simulated takeoff experiment.

"What we are looking at now is a civil aviation tire currently under development and design. The just-completed test aims to evaluate its dynamic performance on rough runway surfaces, providing data support for its wear life analysis," said Bai Tiantian, senior engineer at the company, which is a subsidiary of Sinochem Holdings.

The testing platform, the first of its kind in China, utilizes a specialized device for dynamic testing of aviation tires under complex conditions. It fills a gap in the nation's testing capabilities in this field.

"This system provides a highly reliable testing platform for aviation tire evaluation, significantly enhancing our design and development capabilities for civil aviation tires. It also establishes independent assurance capabilities for the testing and inspection of aviation tires in our country," said Bai.

Japan's core consumer price index (CPI) rose to 112.1 in March, marking the 55th straight month of increase year on year, according to data released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Friday.

Comparing with March 2025, the country's core CPI climbed 1.8 percent, surpassing February's 1.6 percent rise.

On a monthly basis, the index increased 0.5 percent in March, reversing a 0.3 percent decline recorded in February.

Rising food prices remained the primary driver of inflation, with coffee bean prices surging 54 percent year on year and ordinary rice prices climbing 6.4 percent.

Mobile phone communication fees jumped 11.1 percent, while hotel accommodation costs rose 5 percent.

Electricity bills fell 8 percent in March, thanks to government price subsidies.

As prices continue to climb, a growing number of Japanese consumers expect the inflationary trend to persist.

A recent Bank of Japan survey showed that consumers expect prices to be 10.3 percent higher on average in five years - the highest level since the survey began in 2006.
