Samoans of Chinese ancestry have actively engaged in social affairs and vigorously promoted the economic development of Samoa, Prime Minister of the Pacific island country Fiame Naomi Mata'afa said on Wednesday.
Around the world, approximately 25 percent of all Samoans claim Chinese ancestry.
In an interview with the China Media Group (CMG) in Beijing, the Samoan Prime Minister said that these individuals are authentic Samoans who have made significant contributions to the country.
"They're very assimilated, I mean, they are for all authentic Samoans. They hold titles, chiefly titles. They engage in their communities in the traditional sense. They are, of course, business leaders and have made the contribution to our economic growth," said Mata'afa.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has recently carried out multiple combat readiness patrols in the surrounding areas of and airspace over the territorial waters of China's Huangyan Dao, and deployed various types of military aircraft to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty.
The aircraft involved in the Huangyan Dao patrols include different types of military transport aircraft, as well as H-6K bombers and Su-30 fighter jets, all equipped with live ammunition and prepared for combat.
The strategic deployment of diverse aircraft in a coordinated formation significantly boosts the overall combat capabilities of the Chinese military in the region and signals an increasingly systematic approach to controlling China's South China Sea airspace.
The PLA has been conducting regular combat readiness patrols in the Huangyan Dao area to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
