Mr. Mason Hung Chung-hing, the Consultant of Event & Product Development of Hong Kong Tourism Board, said that it's difficult to estimate the number of on-site participants of the countdown event. He believed, even without the fireworks, the countdown event could still be attractive and create a New Year's Eve atmosphere with the Immersive Light Show and Hong Kong WinterFest. When asked whether there would be any forms of mourning for the decreased in the tragic Tai Po fire, Mr. Hung said that the issue had already been discussed internally, but he believed that since some time had passed and many people had expressed their hope to return to their normal life path, the countdown event will provide a stage to participants to welcome the New Year with a hopeful heart.

From around 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve, the police will gradually implement road closure arrangements in the area around Chater Road. Based on the event schedule, the Christmas Town of WinterFest will be temporarily closed from 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
