Greater Bay Area New Year concert dazzles with visual feast, stunning tech marvels

The Greater Bay Area 2025 New Year's Concert, produced by China Media Group (CMG) and broadcast on Wednesday, dazzled audience with a spectacular visual feast, brought to life by cutting-edge technologies and festive cheer.

In highlighting the innovative vigor and vitality of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the concert showcased state-of-the-art innovations, including the glasses-free 3D display and the augmented reality (AR) effect, to enhance the viewing experience with immersive stage interactions.

Jointly organized by CMG, the People's Government of south China's Guangdong Province, and the governments of the neighboring Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions (SAR), this year's New Year Concert was hosted in Zhongshan City, one of the nine cities in Guangdong that form part of the Greater Bay Area city cluster.

The event celebrated the unique charm of Zhongshan's Xiangshan culture while boosting confidence, inspiring reform breakthroughs, overcoming challenges, and promoting high-quality economic and social development in the region.

The concert was presented in five chapters, showcasing the fresh outlook and transformative development prospects of the Greater Bay Area.

The concert brought together performers and stars from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and the Taiwan region, uniting them to send heartfelt blessings to the Greater Bay Area. It also highlighted the region's rich cultural diversity, blending science and technology with art, tradition, and contemporary trends.

Themed “2025 New Year Concert -- Sailing in the Greater Bay Area,” the event was broadcast on China Central Television (CCTV), CMG channels, and radio stations, including Radio The Greater Bay.

Since 2020, the concert has been successfully hosted in various locations, including Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and Macao. It has garnered enthusiastic acclaim from all sectors of society, vividly showcasing the dynamic development and promising future of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped to 0.28 percent to 98.370 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1728 dollars from 1.1725 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3477 dollars from 1.3463 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 159.50 Japanese yen, higher than 159.28 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.7859 Swiss francs from 0.7893 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3800 Canadian dollars from 1.3830 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 9.2013 Swedish kronor from 9.2781 Swedish kronor.
