Stunning drone and light shows have been staged in various cities across China, as part of the celebrations of the Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, which fell on Jan 29.

In Liaocheng City of east China's Shandong Province, a drone light show integrating science, technology and art was performed on Saturday night above the Dongchang Lake, a local scenic spot.

After nightfall, 2,000 illuminated drones took off and displayed various patterns and characters embodying traditional Chinese culture for 15 minutes to create a special festive vibe for the audience.

"It's nice to have such a light show after the Spring Festival," said Jiang Shan, a photography enthusiast.

In the Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone in southwest China's Sichuan Province, a light show is being presented every night on the Jiaozi Avenue during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, which runs from the Chinese New Year's Eve, to the seventh day of the Year of the Snake.

Using the external surface of the Tianfu IFC Twin Towers as canvases, which have a combined area of 52,000 square meters, the light show presents red lanterns, couplets, Fu characters and flowers that symbolize happiness and good luck to add vitality to Spring Festival celebrations.

"We came from Xindu District, just to watch this light show," said a visitor.

In the Xiong'an New Area of north China's Hebei Province, a Spring Festival-themed light show, which began on Saturday, has attracted flocks of visitors for its shocking visual and audio effects.

"Illuminated by the lights, this city looks even more charming. We have sensed the vitality of this city of the future," said Zhang Jing, a tourist from north China's Tianjin Municipality.
