A dazzling fashion show featuring the stunning traditional attire from different ethnic groups across southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region captivated audiences with a blaze of color and classic designs in the ancient city of Lhasa, which served as a sub-venue during the 2025 Lantern Festival Gala on Wednesday night.
Hosted by China Media Group (CMG), the gala boasted a star-studded lineup and delivered a high-tech visual-audio feast for viewers tuning in from around the world to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which landed on Wednesday this year.
Performers with representative costumes from various parts of Xizang elegantly entered the runway, accompanied by the melodic voices of Zahi Bing Zo and Liu Yu, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship and vibrant colors that characterize traditional Tibetan costumes.
The 1,300-year-old city of Lhasa is situated on a snow-covered plateau, making it one of the highest cities in the world. The sub-venue's main stage, set up in front of the famous Potala Palace, offered a spectacular backdrop for the cultural showcase.
The city was one of the four sub-venues of this year's gala in addition to the main stage in Beijing, with the other three being Wuhan in central China, the bustling southwestern metropolis of Chongqing and the historic water town of Wuxi in east China's Jiangsu Province.
The Lantern Festival, observed on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, falls on Feb. 12 this year, and marks the conclusion of the country's Spring Festival celebrations, which center around the Chinese New Year.
First broadcast in 1985, this year's Lantern Festival Gala again staged a whole host of entertaining variety performances including energetic song and dances, comedy sketches, as well as traditional operas and magic shows, highlighting China's unique cultural charm.
