A smart logistics center integrating land and air transportation began operation on Friday in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province.
The first of its kind in the city, the center will be connected to over 80 drone terminals across the Greater Bay Area, enabling it to deliver express parcels to Shenzhen consumers within two hours and to major cities in the Greater Bay Area in an average of three hours.
Integrating traditional logistics and low-altitude logistics, the center adopts a transportation model using drones, unmanned vehicles and couriers to deliver parcels, raising delivery efficiency by four times compared to traditional road transportation.
Using an intelligent dispatching system to assign tasks, plan routes and allocate transportation capacity, the center can handle more than 2,000 express orders per day.
So far, the center has set up six parcel pickup points in the Greater Bay Area and established an air transport network featuring 10 regular routes.
The Greater Bay Area consists of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, as well as nine cities in Guangdong Province - Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing.
China plans to vigorously develop the Greater Bay Area into a world-class bay area and forge a top international city cluster, building an important driver for national economic growth.
