The highly anticipated Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2, a box office sensation in China, officially hit U.S. theaters on Friday, bringing its captivating story to a new audience.

The film, already a record-breaker domestically, is now aiming to win over American hearts.

At a San Francisco Bay Area theater on Friday, also Valentine's Day in the U.S., moviegoers were visibly moved by the film's powerful narrative.

Angela Yu, a moviegoer originally from northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and a U.S. resident of nearly 18 years, was deeply touched by the film. Overcome with emotion, she shared her experience.

"This is the best cure I have had in recent years, not just as a parent. Every parent [should] see this movie, it’s the best cure for those who are hurt and crave for love. This is the best fairytale for every child. Every Asian child because the love you see from those parents is so touching," she said.

Yu believes the film's themes of love and healing are universal and will resonate with a broad audience.

"Every [person] who has grown up that craves for love, craves for a perfect parent and also had this trauma or got hurt by their parents would relate and would find healing from this movie," she said.

Yu added that the film has inspired her to be a better parent to her two-year-old daughter, and she eagerly anticipates the day they can watch Ne Zha 2 together.

Other moviegoers echoed Yu's sentiments, expressing that the film exceeded their expectations.

"It's very intriguing. And I mean, I didn't expect that it would be this great, but I love it," said Eric Liu, another viewer, who was particularly impressed.

Ben Tan was so impressed that he is considering a repeat viewing.

"We should watch it in the iMax or 3D, maybe watch it a second time," said Tan.

When asked if the film would appeal to non-Chinese speaking audiences, viewers expressed optimism. Sarah Lee believes the subtitles will bridge the language gap.

"I guess so. It's an excellent movie overall. I think with the subtitles, I think yes, yes it will," said Lee.

Following its monumental success in China, where it has already amassed over 10 billion yuan (approximately 1.37 billion U.S. dollars) as of Thursday, Ne Zha 2 has begun captivating audiences in select overseas markets, including the United States, Australia and Canada.

A chick of the Eurasian eagle owl, a species under second-class state protection in China, was rescued recently by a border police officer in Aksu Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

While on patrol, the officer spotted the young owl lying helpless under a tree by the roadside. The chick, covered in soft yellowish-brown down, was unable to fly.

Worrying that the little bird might be injured or starved after falling from the tree, the officer gently took it back to the police station. Following guidance from wildlife experts, the chick was fed with water and meat to help it regain strength.

After fully recovered, the young Eurasian eagle owl was successfully released back into the wild.

The Eurasian eagle owl is one of the largest species of owls. It can be found in habitats as diverse as northern coniferous forests to the edge of vast deserts.
