Businesspeople from the private sector, whether young or old, and whether from traditional industries or from the emerging ones, have carried on the entrepreneurship from generation to generation, promoting the development of China's private economy.
A symposium on private economy was held in Beijing on Monday, at which Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech.
In his speech, Xi emphasized the role of private enterprises in advancing China's broader goals in technological innovation, promoting rural vitalization and improving people's well-being.
Dozens of entrepreneurs, ranging in age from their early 30s to over 70, attended the symposium, and the China Central Television (CCTV)interviewed some of the entrepreneurs on the day.
"At the symposium, there are many companies focusing on new quality productive forces, as well as those of science and technology. Of course, there were representatives from traditional industries. I think this indicates the changing of the society, and the changing of the nation. The country is marching towards a direction of advanced technology. Over the years, we've invested over 40 billion yuan (about 5.5 billion U.S. dollars) in agriculture. Meanwhile, we've also invested in high technology to put more efforts in transformation and developing new quality productive forces. We've made some achievements, and are heading towards a new path," said Liu Yonghao, president of New Hope Group, China's agricultural conglomerate.
Xu Guanju, president of Transfar, a chemical company in east China's Zhejiang Province, was impressed by the remarkable achievements that the younger generation of entrepreneurs has achieved so far. He believed that it is the resilient entrepreneurship that has helped to continue the success in the private sector.
"I believe resilience and the spirit of never giving up are not only demonstrated in our generation, but also fully embodied by the young generation of entrepreneurs. They are well-educated, very intelligent, empathic and patriotic. Although Transfar is an enterprise in traditional industry -- manufacturing, we are also in the process of transformation and upgrading. Now, we've built up a global supply chain. In the past, our factories were based in China to serve the world. But now, we are all around the world, serving the whole world," said Xu.
Nan Cunhui, who is the president of CHINT Group, a leading Chinese smart energy solutions provider, is also pleased to see the quick growth of the new generation of entrepreneurs, and the new changes they've brought in. He is looking forward to the transformation of traditional industries.
"The innovations made by the younger generations have been emerging rapidly. I think such a force is really strong. With the development of innovation, the architectural restructuring of the global supply and industrial chains, there would be new progress and plenty of traditional sectors could make strategic and structural adjustment. So, today's symposium is really timely and crucial," said Nan.
