China Media Group (CMG) launched the World Robot Skills Competition in Beijing on Thursday, unveiling the inaugural Robot Dog Athletics Competition with a promotional video on humanoid robot's diverse capabilities.
The video features robots performing tasks of doing household chores, like ironing and cleaning toilets and performing more advanced duties in industrial settings, like packaging goods and manufacturing products. It highlights their potential to transform both everyday life and industrial processes, offering a glimpse into the future of robotics.
As part of CMG's broader initiative to position itself as a key player in the global robotics sector, this competition will provide a premier platform for top research teams from around the world to foster innovation and present cutting-edge robotic technology.
The competition started with robot skills contests, followed by a series of themed challenges and a grand closing ceremony. It will include three main categories of physical competitions, skill challenges, and intelligent interactions, designed to highlight robots' full range of technical abilities and real-world applications.
As the first event of the competition, the Robot Dog Athletics Competition saw quadruped robots compete in athletic contests, navigate all-terrain obstacle courses, engage in boxing matches, and perform rescue operations, demonstrating their versatility and agility in diverse, dynamic scenarios.
CMG will also introduce the CMG Robotics Innovation Experience Camp as part of its Science and Tourism initiative, accompanied by a series of multimedia products to demonstrate the vast potential of the robotics industry and provide an immersive look at the future of the AI technology.
