Karyna, a content creator from Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, has shared her longing for a world at peace as her hometown has endured repeated shelling since the fighting erupted in early 2022, leaving destruction and heartbreak in its wake.

Three years into the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a transition to peace remains uncertain. The staggering humanitarian toll continue to mount, and negotiations ended in deadlock.

Hopes for diplomatic progress suffered another setback on Friday when a highly anticipated White House press conference was canceled abruptly. U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were set to sign a critical minerals deal that day, but the meeting went off rails when the two engaged in a heated shouting match in the Oval Office, disrupting the plan and furthering straining relations.

Watching the frustrating developments from China, where she currently lives, Karyna expressed concern for her loved ones in the war-torn country, hoping that a peaceful resolution will come soon.

"Today I have just watched the meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky. A lot of my relatives and friends are still in Ukraine and I worry about them every day. I really hope that this situation will end as soon as possible and peace to the world," Karyna shared with CGTN.

"I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to live in China. Here is my second home now," she added.

Since taking office in January, President Trump has stepped up efforts to broker peace between Kiev and Moscow, claiming progress in negotiations with Russia. However, Friday's clash with Zelensky casts further doubt on the possibility of a breakthrough.
