In the first two months of this year, Guangzhou, capital city of south China's economic powerhouse Guangdong Province, saw its foreign trade grow 14.3 percent to 189.62 billion yuan, underpinned by coordinated efforts, its global market expansion, and industrial structure upgrade.
In the Jan-Feb period, the number of the city's import and export trading firms increased by 8.8 percent year on year, while its imports and exports with the Belt and Road partner countries climbed by 23.8 percent.
In the first two months of this year, Guangzhou exported 52.13 billion yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products, accounting for 42.4 percent of its total exports. Among them, the total export volume of the "new trio" -- electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells, went up by 13.7 percent. XAG, a leading smart agriculture technology company based in Guagnzhou, launched new-generation agricultural drones that integrate four major functions of spraying, sowing, transportation, and aerial survey. They can meet the needs of agricultural scenarios in different countries and regions and have propped up the startup's rapid growth of foreign trade since the beginning of the year.
"We promote the model of agricultural drones plus agricultural supplies services to lower the threshold for users. So far, our unmanned agricultural equipment has been sold to more than 70 countries and regions around the world," said Tuo Hongyan, a public relations manager with XAG.
Guangzhou sees strong import-export growth Jan-Feb
China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Beijing on Tuesday.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that China stands ready to work with Tajikistan to strengthen cooperation across multiple key areas.
Taking the important consensus reached by the two heads of state as the fundamental guideline, Zhao said the two sides should aim to deepen strategic mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, promote high-quality development of China-Central Asia cooperation, and build a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future featuring everlasting friendship, solidarity, and mutual benefit and win-win results.
Zhao said China's NPC is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the parliament of Tajikistan to provide a legal guarantee for the long-term healthy and stable development of China-Tajikistan relations.
Rahmon said Tajikistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and fully supports the four major global initiatives put forward by China.
He said Tajikistan is glad to see the great achievements China has made in its modernization drive, and is ready to strengthen practical cooperation with China in various fields such as politics, economy and culture, deepen exchanges between legislative bodies, and continuously enhance the friendly feelings between the two peoples.
On Tuesday morning, Rahmon laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes.
Rahmon is paying a state visit to China from from Monday to Thursday at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
