Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and a goodwill ambassador of the World Health Organization for tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS, inspected TB prevention and control efforts at the Ritan High School in Beijing, ahead of the 30th World TB Day, which falls on March 24.
At the school clinic, Peng learned in detail about the school's efforts in TB screening and prevention, and daily health education, encouraging the school to strengthen TB prevention to keep the disease off campus.
She also participated in a series of school activities focused on TB prevention and control, including a biology lecture, creative handicraft exhibition, social research discussion, and short video recording, engaging in warm exchanges with teachers and students.
Peng commended the students for their enthusiasm and sense of social responsibility in volunteering and actively participating in TB prevention activities, encouraging them to contribute to the goal of ending the epidemic.

The ceremony is traditionally held on Qingming, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, which falls on Sunday this year. During the Qingming holiday, Chinese people mourn their deceased family members and worship their ancestors.
