China is ready to work with Vietnam to elevate bilateral military relations to a new level, said Zhang Xiaogang, spokesman of the Chinese Defense Ministry, in Beijing on Wednesday.

"This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. From April 14 to 15, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Vietnam, where he jointly mapped out the future development of bilateral relations and military cooperation with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee. President Xi emphasized that, standing at a new historical starting point, both sides should build on past achievements and move forward together. Following the overall goals of achieving higher political mutual trust, more practical security cooperation, deeper pragmatic cooperation, stronger foundation for public opinion, closer multilateral coordination, and better management and resolution of differences, the two sides should push forward high-quality comprehensive strategic cooperation, ensure the steady and long-term development of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future, and make new and greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind," said Zhang at a press briefing.

"In recent years, the two armies have carried forward the traditional profound friendship of 'comrades and brothers' between the two countries, deepened high-level exchanges and interactions, established a "3 plus 3" strategic dialog mechanism involving diplomacy, defense, and public security, conducted joint counter-terrorism training, organized multiple border defense friendly exchanges, joint patrols in the Beibu Gulf, and youth officer exchanges. Bilateral military relations have achieved high-level and steady development. With shared ideals and goals, China and Vietnam will work together to build on past achievements and write new chapters in their relationship. We are willing to work with Vietnam, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both parties and countries, to further enhance strategic mutual trust and strategic coordination between the two armies, strengthen cooperation in areas including political work, maritime security, joint exercises, personnel training to continuously take bilateral military relations to a new height," he said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that Iran has obtained extensive documents and evidence linking the recent unrest across the country to the U.S. and Israel, noting that Mossad agents attempted to direct such "terrorist acts."

Araghchi said at a press conference in Tehran that since Dec 28, 2025, Iran had seen peaceful demonstrations organized by industry associations and economic professional. In the following days, more participants joined, and the situation gradually escalated from peaceful rallies into violent clashes.

Beginning on Jan 8, terrorists and armed groups carrying weapons entered protest sites and opened fire on police and civilians, with the aim of steering demonstrations toward violence, bloodshed and chaos, he said.

"Israeli media reports are rife with claims that Israel has designed and conducted operations in Iran. Mr. [Mike] Pompeo, who was Trump's CIA director, said on his X that 'Happy New Year to every Iranian in the streets. Also to every Mossad agent walking beside them.' This clearly shows that Mossad agents attempted to direct such terrorist acts," the minister said. Addressing military threats from the U.S. and Israel, Araghchi said Iran does not seek war but is fully prepared to face up to war. He added that Iran is ready for serious and pragmatic negotiations with the U.S., but the talks must be based on fairness, equality and mutual respect, rather than unilateral pressure or directives from Washington.

On the same day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the U.S. and Israel at a regular press briefing in Tehran. He said the two countries have made "extensive interventionist remarks" regarding Iran's situation, saying such statements are intended to foment chaos, violence and instability.

The spokesman said Iran is closely monitoring the development of the situation and remains fully prepared, warning that Iran's armed forces will respond to any act of aggression by its enemies.
