Chinese President Xi Jinping's signed article published in the Russian Gazette newspaper on Wednesday reflects his deep understanding on guiding mankind towards a bright and peaceful future based on historical lessons, said the newspaper's editor-in-chief.
Titling "Learning from History to Build Together a Brighter Future", the signed article was published ahead of Xi's arrival in Russia for a state visit to the neighboring country.
At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Xi will arrive in Moscow on Wednesday to begin a four-day state visit to Russia and attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War .
"In this article, President Xi articulates a central thesis, that is, we must remember the lessons of history, as they serve as a safeguard against any recurrence of the catastrophic tragedy witnessed eight decades ago. It was then that the peoples of China and the Soviet Union secured victory in the war against Nazi Germany and militarist Japan, thereby bringing freedom to their nations and the world at large," said Vladislav Fronin, editor-in-chief of the Russian Gazette, in an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN).
In the article, Xi calls for all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard our sovereignty, security, and development interests based on his profound understanding of history, which reflects his firm and far-sighted belief in promoting an equal and orderly multipolar world for the brighter future of humanity, Forinin noted.
"President Xi stresses that the historical truth of the war must be preserved. [The published article] reflects his deep understanding of the great responsibility that the Chinese and Russian people shoulder in shaping our common future," said Fronin.
"President Xi underscores that these historical lessons retain their relevance for all humanity today. They provide the foundation for a world order rooted in equality and justice, rather than hegemony. In such an order, the interests of every nation must be respected, confrontation must yield to dialogue, and unity must prevail over division. Cooperation becomes the pathway to enduring peace," he said.
