Russian officials and the public praised Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit, noting that it has fostered deeper cooperation and a stronger heart-to-heart connection between the two countries.

At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Xi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday evening for a four-day state visit and attended the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War.

During his stay, Xi engaged in in-depth discussions with Putin on bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as major international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Russian officials have emphasized the significance of Xi's visit, noting that it will pave the way for deeper strategic cooperation between the two countries in the future.

"President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia at the invitation of President Putin is of great significance. It strengthens the all-round, multi-level, and wide-ranging cooperation that the Russian and Chinese people have developed together. The relationship between Russia and China can be considered a model of strategic cooperation between countries," said Dmitry Mezentsev, presidential plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation to the Constitutional Court and former secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

"First, I want to emphasize that the talks between the two heads of state yesterday was very meaningful. The friendship between the two heads of state will facilitate more effective cooperation. The cooperation between our two countries in the energy sector is progressing smoothly, with many cooperative projects being implemented according to plan. Our partnership will only continue to advance," said Sergei Tsivilev, Russia's minister of energy.

Scholars and artists in Russia were moved by Xi's attendance at the Victory Day anniversary celebrations during his visit, a gesture that reflects the deep friendship between the two countries and their strong commitment to defending the victory of World War II.

"The significance of President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia is immeasurable. Xi's visit underscores that Russia and China are united in defending historical truth. We are the countries that have made the greatest contribution to our shared victory," said Pavel Troshchinskiy, a leading researcher at the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The talks between Russian and Chinese heads of state on the eve of Victory Day -- a holiday that symbolizes our common victory and brings together our shared tears and joys -- reflects the mutual understanding between Russia and China regarding our values," said Katerina Kovanzhi, a Russian opera singer.

The Russian public also noted that Russia and China have significant prospects for cooperation in areas such as promoting global multipolarity and developing the digital economy.

"President Xi Jinping's visit is of course extremely important. It means that the relationship between the two countries has reached a level that cannot be reversed. Our two countries jointly support the process of global multi-polarization, advocate for multilateral cooperation, call for compliance with the UN Charter, and support fair solutions to global issues," said Oleg Deripaska, chairman of the Ecological Council of the China-Russia Friendship, Peace and Development Committee.

"I have noticed that the Russian government department responsible for digital development signed a cooperation agreement with its Chinese counterpart, which involves digital transformation and the development of the digital economy. China is a global leader in digital economy development, and the signing of the agreement will elevate the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries to a new level," said Vitaly Mankevich, chairman of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

The Iranian government is focusing on public concerns and maintaining stable supplies of essential goods amid recent protests, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a televised interview on Sunday.

In the city of Karaj, northwest of the capital Tehran, daily life has largely continued as normal. A video filmed by a local resident on Sunday shows food stores open and grocery shelves fully stocked.

"This is the block near my home, and there are some food stores here. Daily life continues here. Last night we did not see many protests in Karaj. Right now the city is very safe. This is a grocery store close to my home. All the food is available; nothing is in shortage. Here are noodles and different types of beans. Here are dairy products, cheese, and yogurt. I also checked other grocery stores and didn't see any shortages. Everything is available," said local resident Ali Reza.

Iranian officials have described recent disturbances as acts orchestrated by the "enemy," including some carried out by well-trained and armed "terrorists." The incidents have caused casualties among security personnel and civilians, as well as property damage.

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has directed authorities to severely punish the "terrorists."

Meanwhile, Iran's police chief Ahmad-Reza Radan said on Sunday that the police had raised alert levels and arrested several leaders of the troublemakers during the operations on Saturday.

President Pezeshkian noted in the interview that the normal demands of the Iranian people are reasonable and justified, but they must realize that triggering riots and carrying out terrorist acts are the enemy's attempts to undermine the country. He urged the public to remain vigilant.

Also on Sunday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that Tehran would regard U.S. and Israeli bases and facilities in the Middle East as "legitimate targets" if Washington takes military action against Iran. His remarks followed media reports saying U.S. President Donald Trump is "seriously considering authorizing a strike" against Iran.

Iranian state media reported that at least 109 members of Iran's security forces have been killed in clashes since the protests began 14 days ago. Meanwhile, human rights groups based outside the country said the number of protesters killed has exceeded 200, though the figure could not be independently verified.

The protests initially erupted over a sharp depreciation of the rial and sweeping subsidy reforms. Iranian authorities have blamed the unrest on foreign-linked agents and sanctions imposed by the United States.
