China hopes that the UK upholds an objective perception of the country while following a right approach to its policy towards the bilateral relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
Lin made the statement in response to a query about a news report saying that the UK is to release the audit of relations with China in early June.
"China and the UK are both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and major global economies. In the face of mounting global challenges, enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both countries and contributes to world peace and development. It is hoped that the UK side will uphold an objective perception of China, follow a correct policy approach, and work to foster a favorable atmosphere for the sound and steady development of China-UK relations," said the spokesman.
