The Beyond Expo 2025 is in full swing in China's Macao Special Administrative Region, showcasing a broad array of cutting-edge technologies ranging from artificial intelligence to sustainable construction materials and more.

Under the theme "Empowering Asia, Bridging the World," the fifth edition of the event features over 800 exhibitors and is expected to welcome around 25,000 visitors.

Running Wednesday through Saturday, the fifth edition of the tech fair carries the theme “Empowering Asia, Bridging the World,” and features more than 800 exhibitors. Organizers expect around 25,000 visitors over the course of the four-day event.

At the expo, the two humanoid robots developed by Hangzhou Hexuan Intelligent Robot Company have drawn great attention. Equipped with advanced motion control algorithms, they demonstrated the capability to play intricate musical instrument to the public.

"For this expo, we have brought two music-playing robots. This is also our first appearance at an international exhibition. Our company specializes in dexterous hands and humanoid arms," said Qu Kangkang, the firm's CEO.

Meanwhile, advanced environmental friendly building materials have also been showcased during the exhibition, highlighting construction industry's green and smart transformation.

"This time, we focused on showcasing advanced building materials such as aluminum-like panels, stone-like materials, and photovoltaic construction materials. We aim to transform buildings into truly green, power-generating houses and provide innovative solutions for green and low-carbon buildings and urban renewal," stated Wang Fazhi, deputy manager of Far East Photovoltaic Technology (Guangdong) Co., Ltd.

The event also includes a series of forums, industry summits, and innovation roadshows aimed at fostering dialogue and cooperation across the tech landscape.

"We hope to enable our technologies to go global while actively introducing external advancements. This is what Macao should have done. And we also hope that Beyond Expo can serve as one of the platforms to promote this objective," said Jason Ho, co-founder of Beyond Expo.

China aims to achieve secure and reliable supply of key core artificial intelligence (AI) technologies by 2027, with its industrial scale and empowerment level remaining among the world's forefront, according to a recent government action plan.

The plan, jointly issued by eight departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the National Development and Reform Commission, outlines an ambitious push to deeply integrate AI with the manufacturing sector, foster new quality productive forces and comprehensively empower new industrialization. By 2027, the plan targets the deep application of three to five general-purpose large AI models in manufacturing, the development of specialized, full-coverage industry-specific large models, the creation of 100 high-quality industrial datasets, and the promotion of 500 typical application scenarios.

It also aims to cultivate two to three globally influential ecosystem-leading enterprises, a batch of specialized and sophisticated small and medium-sized enterprises, and a group of enabling service providers proficient in both AI technology and industry know-how.

Furthermore, China plans to build a world-leading open-source ecosystem, enhance security governance capabilities, and contribute Chinese solutions to global AI development.

The document outlines measures including promoting the coordinated development of AI chips' hardware and software, supporting innovations in model training and inference methods, fostering key industry-specific large models, and deeply embedding large model technology into core production processes.

The plan also emphasizes making breakthroughs in key technologies such as security protection for industrial model algorithms and training data protection.
