The 21st China International Cartoon and Animation Festival, sponsored by the National Radio and Television Administration, China Media Group and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, is expected to be held in Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang in the east, through May 29 to June 2.

As the event approaches, buses around the city all feature the event's signs, creating an overwhelming animation festival atmosphere. Citizens and visitors are invited to board the animation-themed buses featuring Lele, the festival's mascot, traveling along a 12.31-kilometer bus route to enjoy the scenic landscape of the West Lake, while engaging with the distinctive allure of animation culture.

Hangzhou Metro Line 1 has also launched a special animation-themed train carrying iconic characters at Binkang Road Station. Passengers can immerse themselves in the vibrant world of animation, appreciating the imaginative decor and iconic imagery of renowned cartoon characters. Many young animation enthusiasts make special trips to capture photographs with their favorite characters.

"I saw so many animation characters here. It's quite a fun to check in. I've already decided to go to the animation exhibition for a tour during the Dragon Boat Festival," said a resident.

As one of the key warm-up events of the animation festival, a drone light show was spectacularly staged on the evening of May 25.

A total of 1,200 drones ascended into the sky and continuously formed intricate and exquisite patterns, like the festival's mascot Lele, and Monkey King from Black Myth: Wukong.

The light show will continue until June 2, featuring nightly performances at 20:00 in Qianjiang New Town.
