A high-standard grain reserve base, featuring the largest eco-friendly standardized grain silos in east China's Jiangsu Province, has officially commenced operations to ensure the safe storage of summer grain.
The Southern Jiangsu Grain Reserve Base, located in Danyang City's Huguo Village, boasts a total of 10 colossal white cylindrical grain silos at present.
According to the base manager, the current daily grain intake is approximately 1,000 tons thanks to its intelligent storage facilities.
"The original two-hour task can now be completed in just 15 minutes through automated quality inspection, weighing, and settlement," said Yan Yong, person in charge of the grain reserve base.
The storage complex, designed for a total grain storage capacity of 208,900 tons upon completion, represents Jiangsu's first grain reserve facility operated by utilizing clean energy. Currently, approximately 80 percent of the electricity used at the base comes from green energy.
"So far, the majority of the electricity used in the base is provided by a cluster of photovoltaic power stations in the southern part of Danyang. We are planning to further construct a 929-kW photovoltaic system on the roof of grain silos. It is expected to be completed by the end of this year. At that time, it will achieve 100 percent green electricity operation," said Ding Fei, executive of Danyang Grain Reserve Base.
