The 5th Chinese Peacekeeping Military Utility Helicopter Unit to the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) passed the equipment inspection organized by the United Nations for the second quarter of 2025 on Wednesday.
The inspection team comprising of 17 officers dispatched by the UNISFA checked 45 items, including barrack facilities, vehicles and equipment, weapons and ammunition, medical equipment, and personal essentials.
The team concluded that all the equipment and materials of the Chinese peacekeeping helicopter unit are in line with the UN standards and the Chinese unit is capable of continuing to conduct peacekeeping missions.
The UNISFA team also gave high praise to the efficient fulfillment of the authorized tasks by the team in the mission area since its deployment, the extensive conduct of humanitarian condolences and the traditional cultural activities.
The unit, deployed last January to the territory contested by Sudan and South Sudan, conducts aerial patrols, medical evacuations, personnel and cargo transport and logistical support across 23 locations in Abyei and neighboring regions in Sudan and South Sudan.
