Preparations have been in full swing in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province as the 12th World Games 2025 is only 50 days away.

The Chengdu 2025, which runs from August 7 to 17,  comprises 34 sports, 60 disciplines and 256 medal events including trampoline, flag football, softball, squash and other official events of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Now the Chengdu 2025's daily competition schedule has been finalized, a core team has been established and began operation in venues, and a total of 24 test matches of 20 sports have been completed.

"According to the requirements of the Games, we will deliver all the venues before July 10. We have compiled and released the general competition schedule and the daily competition schedules, and completed the procurement and allocation of competition equipment. In July, we will conduct testing at competition venues," said Wang Yi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of World Games 2025 Chengdu.

In terms of services for participants, instead of building an athlete village, Chengdu will house athletes in hotels in close proximity to competition venues.

The Games has recruited nearly 10,000 volunteers and set up more than 500 volunteer service stations across the city, to offer assistance to athletes and tourists.

The World Games' first torch relay will be held in Sichuan Province on July 26.

China Media Group (CMG) held a symposium in Beijing on Tuesday to mark the 85th anniversary of the founding of the people's radio broadcasting.

Representatives of current and veteran radio hosts, scholars, and audience exchanged views on ways to promote cultural excellence and advance media integration.

The meeting noted that over the past 85 years, the people's radio broadcasting has developed in step with the nation and responded to public expectations.

China has accelerated high-quality development and innovation in radio broadcasting since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.

In recent years, China has pursued reform and innovation in radio broadcasting within the integrated framework of CMG, which was established in 2018. The sector has achieved a historic leap, featuring enriched content, diversified channels, deepened media convergence, and stronger influence in public opinion.

China commenced the people's radio broadcasting 85 years ago as Yan'an Xinhua Radio Station started broadcasting on Dec 30, 1940. In September 1947, Yan'an Xinhua Radio Station launched its first English program. It moved to Beijing in March 1949 and became a national radio after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
