China and the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) jointly held an exhibition on Monday to promote the notion of "accessibility for all" as part of the broader effort to safeguard human rights of all kinds.

The exhibition coincided with the 59th session of the UN Human Rights Council and serves as a follow-up to the resolution "Promoting accessibility for the full enjoyment of all human rights by all" submitted by China and other countries such as Cameroon, Honduras, Pakistan, and Türkiye last year.

The development of accessible facilities reflects the civic progress of a nation and society, said Chen Xu, Chinese Permanent Representative to UNOG and other international organizations in Switzerland, while delivering a keynote speech at the exhibition's opening ceremony.

It is also a critical safeguard that ensures equal, sufficient, and efficient participation and involvement of all people in social life, their sharing of the fruits of economic and social development, and the fulfilment of human rights of all kinds, Chen added.

In an interview with CGTN on the sideline of the exhibition, Chen highlighted the role of technology in promoting inclusive accessibility.

"The idea is to turn our resolution into real exercise. So, the exhibition you will find is composed of three segments. That is cultural, information and physical. So, accessibility is not only physical easiness, but also, bearing in mind, the rapid development of modern technologies," said Chen.

Anita Pipan who serves at the Permanent Mission of Republic of Slovenia to United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, said all these efforts made by the international community is aimed at helping people in need to access all kinds of social resources equally.

"Slovenia is supporting the resolution and is trying to do what we can nationally but also internationally to ensure that the questions of accessibility are put high on the agenda and that the international community finds the best possible solutions and addresses the challenges of people that have challenges with accessibility in the best possible way," she said.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil issued a statement on Saturday, saying that the security alert released by the U.S. Department of State regarding Venezuela is based on false claims that do not exist and is intended to create a perception of risk that is not real.

According to the statement posted on Gil's official X account, Venezuela is currently in a state of absolute calm, peace and stability.

All residential areas, transportation routes, checkpoints and security facilities in the country are functioning normally, and all armed forces nationwide are under the government's control.

The statement came after the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs on Saturday warned that as international flights have resumed, U.S. citizens in Venezuela "should leave the country immediately."
