Premier Li Qiang said on Wednesday that China remains committed to opening wider to the world and providing greater development opportunities for multinational companies.

Li made the remarks when talking with representatives of global business community at the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC), or the Summer Davos Forum, in Tianjin.

After hearing remarks made by business representatives, Li said China's steady economic growth is not only underpinned by its improving fundamentals and sound macro policies, but also by the attention to the role of market and enterprises. Foreign-invested companies, he added, have made significant contributions while China has offered a vast development space for them.

Facing the world marked by rising uncertainties and intertwined risks, Li called on businesses to take proactive and effective steps to address various challenges and promote their growth.

He put forward three key areas where China offers unique advantages for global multinationals.

First, against the backdrop of a major global industrial restructuring, the quality and efficiency of supporting industries have become particularly important, Li said.

The strengths of multinational companies, in terms of brands, global networks, and technologies, can yield more quality products and services in pairing with China's well-established industrial system, he said.

Second, with the rapid evolution of a new round of sci-tech revolution, the speed of industrialization and iteration of emerging technologies matters more than ever, said the premier.

China's efficient interaction between sci-tech innovation and industrial innovation presents vast opportunities for international companies to pursue further sci-tech cooperation and innovation, Li said.

Third, he stressed the vital importance of a stable business environment amid growing uncertainties in international economic and trade cooperation.

China's economy has shown strong resilience and the capacity to keep its own paces despite external shocks, Li said, underscoring that China's steadfast commitment to opening-up offers better development to multinationals in China.

He expressed China's welcome to companies from all over the world to invest and do business in China as always, and to move forward alongside the sustained growth of Chinese economy.

The talks with the Chinese premier drew around 160 business representatives from more than 30 countries and regions.

Voicing their optimism about China's economic outlook, attendees said they will continue to further expand their presence in the Chinese market for further development while contributing to the country's high-quality development.

The series of erroneous words and actions by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi not only seriously deviate from the spirit of pacifist Constitution of the country but also further exacerbate regional tensions, said Tomoko Tamura, a member of the House of Representatives.

In an exclusive interview with China Central Television (CCTV), Tamura criticized Takaichi for straining Japan-China relations by making erroneous remarks on Taiwan, calling on her to improve bilateral relations.

Tamura pointed out that the political consensus reached during the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries remains of great significance, and Japan should respect and abide by it as the basis for repairing and rebuilding friendly relations with China.

"The erroneous remarks by Sanae Takaichi this time have led to the deterioration of China-Japan relations. This is absolutely unacceptable and must be retracted. Regarding the relations between two sides, the consensus reached during the normalization of diplomatic relations in 1972 is of utmost importance. At that time, the Chinese government asserted that Taiwan is part of China and the Japanese government fully understood and respected this stance. Now we should reaffirm this consensus, as well as the crucial agreements reached by both countries after 1972. Japan should explicitly acknowledge these significant agreements to rebuild friendly relations with China," she said.

Tamura also pointed out that in recent years, Japan has attempted to reshape its security policy, boosting defense spending, easing arms-export restrictions, pursuing offensive weapons development, and clearly deviating from the fundamental principle of "exclusively defense-oriented" policy.

"Japan's possession of long-range missiles clearly exceeded the scope of 'exclusively defense-oriented' policies. Japan is accelerating its military expansion. From the perspective of the Japanese constitution, this is absolutely not allowed. We are deeply concerned about the current Takaichi administration's disregard for the Japanese constitution. We clearly demand that Japan should adhere to the position of resolving issues through diplomatic efforts," she said.
