China is willing to work with all parties to promote the high-quality development of greater BRICS, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning on Wednesday at a regular press briefing in Beijing.

Mao made the remarks in response to a media query regarding the upcoming 17th BRICS Summit to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 5 to 8.

"The BRICS cooperation mechanism is the most important platform for unity and cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries in today's world, and serves as a significant force in facilitating the realization of an equal and orderly multipolar world and an economic globalization that is inclusive and beneficial for all. This leaders' summit is the first to be held after new member Indonesia and 10 partner countries joined the BRICS. A number of other emerging markets and developing countries, as well as international and regional organizations, have also been invited to participate in the meeting. China looks forward to working together with all parties to consolidate the BRICS strategic partnership, make BRICS contribution to upholding multilateralism, advancing common development, and improving global governance, and to promote high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation," said the spokeswoman.

China is deeply shocked by and strongly condemns the U.S.'s blatant use of force against a sovereign state and action against its president, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Saturday.

It's reported that the U.S. launched military strikes on Venezuela and Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the U.S. has "successfully" carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, along with his wife, have been taken and "flown out of the country."

Such hegemonic acts of the U.S. seriously violate international law and Venezuela's sovereignty, and threaten peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean region, the spokesperson said, adding that China firmly opposes it.

"We call on the U.S. to abide by international law and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and stop violating other countries' sovereignty and security," said the spokesperson.
