China's box office revenue for 2025 had reached 30 billion yuan (about 4.18 billion U.S. dollars) as of 11:38 on Tuesday, reaching the milestone in 189 days – 28 days earlier than last year, according to online data.

Nine out of China's top 10 films so far in 2025 are domestic films, with "Ne Zha 2" as the runaway leader.

The domestic animated blockbuster has pulled in 15.44 billion yuan (about 2.15 billion U.S. dollars) on the Chinese mainland in 2025, making it the most-watched and highest-grossing film ever in China.

The film's overseas takings have also exceeded 400 million yuan (about 55.75 million U.S. dollars).

Other domestic films released this summer, such as "Endless Journey of Love," have also performed well at the box office.

This year's summer lineup of domestic movies features more comedies, thrillers and animated films.

The China Film Administration and China Media Group, along with other relevant agencies, have also implemented different initiatives to further invigorate the film industry.

In April, they launched the "China Film Consumption Year" campaign, introducing a series of measures to promote movie going. The initiative offered 91.25 million yuan (about 12.72 million U.S. dollars) in movie ticket subsidies, driving box office revenues over 540 million yuan (about 75.26 million U.S. dollars).

Another initiative, called "China Travel with Chinese Films," has successfully launched in the United States, Russia, Germany and France, promoting movie-themed tourism routes in China for foreign visitors.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil issued a statement on Saturday, saying that the security alert released by the U.S. Department of State regarding Venezuela is based on false claims that do not exist and is intended to create a perception of risk that is not real.

According to the statement posted on Gil's official X account, Venezuela is currently in a state of absolute calm, peace and stability.

All residential areas, transportation routes, checkpoints and security facilities in the country are functioning normally, and all armed forces nationwide are under the government's control.

The statement came after the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs on Saturday warned that as international flights have resumed, U.S. citizens in Venezuela "should leave the country immediately."
