Typhoon Danas, the fourth typhoon of the year, made its third landfall in the coastal area of Rui'an City in east China's Zhejiang Province late on Tuesday, local authorities have confirmed. According to the provincial meteorological observatory, the center of the tropical storm made landfall at around 23:45, packing winds of up to 20 meters per second.

This followed Danas' initial landfall in Taiwan early on Monday, and second landfall in Dongtou District of Wenzhou, also in Zhejiang, at 21:25 on Tuesday.

The Zhejiang Meteorological Bureau forecasts that Wenzhou, Taizhou, the eastern and southern regions of Lishui, and other regions of the province will experience heavy to torrential rain into Wednesday.

In response, Wenzhou upgraded its typhoon emergency response to Level II on Tuesday afternoon.

Nearby Fujian Province has also been hit by heavy rainfall and strong winds, with the bad weather expected to last until Thursday.

Fujian activated a level-IV emergency response for flood control on Tuesday morning, while maintaining its level-IV typhoon emergency response.

According to the educational bureau of Fuzhou, the provincial capital of Fujian, all educational activities in the city have been suspended on Wednesday as the region continues to be hit by heavy rain.

Train services have also been affected by Typhoon Danas, with the China Railway Nanchang Group in east China's Jiangxi Province activating level-III emergency responses for flood and typhoon prevention on parts of its railway sections on Tuesday. Some of its passenger trains are also being suspended on Wednesday.

China has a four-tier natural disaster emergency response system, with level I being the highest level and level IV the lowest.
