China's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went down 3.6 percent year on year in June, the National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, the PPI dropped 0.4 percent in June, according to the NBS data.

In June, the purchasing prices for industrial producers dropped by 4.3 percent year on year, and 0.7 percent month on month, the NBS data showed.

In the first half of the year, producer prices for industrial products decreased by 2.8 percent compared with the same period last year, and purchasing prices for industrial producers fell by 2.9 percent.

On a year-on-year base, among the producer prices for industrial products, the price for means of production decreased by 4.4 percent in June, causing the overall level of producer prices for industrial products to decrease by about 3.26 percentage points.

Among them, the price for the mining industry decreased by 13.2 percent, the price for the raw material industry decreased by 5.5 percent, and the price for the processing industry decreased by 3.2 percent year on year.

The price of consumer goods decreased by 1.4 percent year on year in June, contributing about 0.35 percentage points to the overall decrease of producer prices of industrial products.

In the month, food prices decreased by 2.0 percent, clothing prices rose by 0.1 percent, while general commodity prices increased by 0.8 percent, and durable consumer goods prices decreased by 2.7 percent year on year.

Among the purchasing prices for industrial producers, prices for fuel and power went down by 10.4 percent, for ferrous metal materials down by 8.0 percent, for raw chemical materials down by 6.2 percent, for agricultural and sideline products down by 4.2 percent, for both building materials and non-metallic down by 2.6 percent , for textile raw material down by 2.4 percent, and for non-ferrous metal materials and wires up by 2.4 percent.
