China has established the foundational framework for a unified national market during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), aiming to offer a better business environment for market players, according to a senior official on Wednesday.
China's State Council Information Office held a press conference on the country's high-quality fulfillment of targets set for the 14th Five-Year Plan period in Beijing, where officials presented achievements in social and economic development during the period and answered questions from the media.
Zheng Shanjie, head of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, briefed the media on the major and concrete measures China has taken to build a unified national market during the period.
"The achievements of comprehensively deepening reforms are being transformed into a modern governance system and capabilities at a faster pace. China's business environment is constantly improving, with the basic framework for a unified national market established. China has introduced and implemented the private sector promotion law, while eliminating all access restriction on foreign investment in the manufacturing sector and reducing the restrictions on the national negative list for foreign investment access to 29 items. The number of private enterprises has increased to over 58 million, representing a growth of more than 40 percent over the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020)," he said.
