China on Wednesday unveiled a comprehensive report at the ongoing third China International Supply Chain Expo, outlining a collaborative path for stronger global supply chains.
With the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," the five-day expo, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, kicked off in Beijing on Wednesday.
The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report was released, accompanied by the debut of a new matrix of four key indices, namely promotion, connectivity, innovation, and resilience, which are designed to provide a China solution for strengthening global supply chain cooperation and development.
The report offers a systematic analysis of global supply chain trends over the past year, highlighting China's role in advancing global supply chain practices and the new opportunities those efforts have created. It also tracks global developments in frontier technologies and key product development, mapping out the global supply chain networks of six diverse products, including drones, AR glasses, and wine.
According to the newly released global supply chain index matrix, the overall development of global supply chains has remained relatively stable. From 2018 to 2024, all four key indices showed an upward trend, indicating gradual and positive progress across multiple dimensions.
"(These results clearly show that) despite rising uncertainties and instabilities in the global economy, the promoting factors have always been dominant. Global supply chains are moving towards greater efficiency and vitality," said Zhao Ping, president of the Academy of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
Data also indicated that resilience in the global supply chain improves only when the other three indices -- promotion, connectivity, and innovation -- rise in tandem, underscoring the need for coordinated development across sectors to build a more resilient global supply chain framework.
"We will continue to monitor the latest global developments in supply chains, improve our research on global supply chain brands, and promote the creation of a supply chain that is safe, stable, efficient, open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial," said Zhao.
The third China International Supply Chain Expo has gathered 651 enterprises and institutions from 75 countries, regions, and international organizations, with overseas exhibitors making up 35 percent of the total.
