China is willing to work with all parties to promote the implementation of the United Nations Pact for the Future and push for new fruits within the framework, said Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, at a UN informal meeting on Thursday.
The UN General Assembly held an informal interactive dialog on the implementation of the pact on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Philemon Young, the 79th President of the General Assembly, who stressed that the 2028 global review of the pact cannot be reduced to a procedural exercise. It must provide a clear assessment of progress, reveal gaps, and put forward concrete recommendations to guide international cooperation until 2030 and beyond, said the president.
Geng stressed the necessity for international unity under the current turbulent global situation at the meeting.
"At present, unilateralism, protectionism and acts of hegemony are rampant, undermining multilateralism, international cooperation and the status of the UN. In this context, the implementation of the Pact for the Future also faces huge challenges. The international community must strengthen solidarity, build consensus, and take the implementation of the Pact for the Future as an opportunity to promote multilateralism, improve global governance and strengthen the role of the UN," Geng said.
He also said that China supports the review of the overall implementation of the Pact for the Future in 2028 as required by the pact.
