China hopes to seek more consensus and reduced misunderstandings with the U.S. through dialogue and communication, and better leverage the role of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday, in commenting on the latest update of China-U.S. trade talks.
"China's position on economic and trade issues is clear and consistent. We hope the U.S. will work with China to act on the important common understandings reached by the heads of state of the two countries and make good use of the consultation mechanism. Hopefully, through communication and dialogue based on equality, respect and mutual benefit, there will be more consensus and cooperation and less misperception, and we will enable the steady, sound and sustainable development of the China-U.S. relations," said Guo Jiakun, the spokesman, at a press conference in Beijing.
