China is glad to see improvement of relations between Russia and the United States, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday, in response to a media query about a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in China in September.
On Monday, the Kremlin said it would not rule out a potential meeting between Putin and Trump during celebrations in China in September marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
"Both Russia and the U.S. are permanent members of the UN Security Council and major countries with influence. China is happy to see the improvement of Russia-U.S. ties and their contributions to world peace and stability," said Guo Jiakun, the spokesman, at a press conference in Beijing.
