A full technical rehearsal was held on Sunday evening for the opening ceremony of the 12th World Games, set to take place on Thursday at the Tianfu International Convention Center in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The global competition is the highest-level international multi-sport event outside the Olympic Games.

Themed "boundless sports, countless wonders", the 90-minute ceremony will feature a 15-minute cultural and sports performance, blending artistic expression with athletic energy.

The ceremony will break from tradition by moving beyond the confines of a sports stadium. Instead, it will take place in the expansive outdoor space of the "Eaves of Tianfu" -- a 430-meter wooden corridor in front of the Tianfu International Convention Center, which is the largest single wooden structure in Asia.

This unique setting will seamlessly blend natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and urban life of Chengdu City, creating a dynamic stage that connects sport, art, and community.

Two sets of jumbo screens, each exceeding 20 meters in diameter, have been installed on-site. Using advanced 3D visual effects, these screens will interact with the main stage, creating a visually immersive experience for spectators.

Nature plays a key role in conveying the ceremony's theme. Spectators will be treated to a golden ginkgo leaf-inspired stage design, set against the backdrop of a serene lake and lush green spaces. This harmonious integration reflects Chengdu's commitment to balancing urban development with ecological preservation.

As the final countdown begins, all eyes are turning to Chengdu for a vibrant, joyful, and unforgettable opening ceremony that promises to set a new standard for international sports events.

Scheduled from August 7 to 17, the 12th World Games will feature 255 events spanning 60 disciplines across 34 sports.
