Children in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province have been immersed in a fantastic world of robots during the summer holiday by taking part in competitions and other activities.

The RoboMaster University Championship (RMUC 2025) of the 24th China University Robot Competition, concluded Sunday in Shenzhen, with the Jiaoloong team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University taking the crown.

Robots featuring various shapes and functions at the event ignited the children's enthusiasm and enriched their summer holiday life as they watched the competition.

"It's my first time to watch it. It's very exciting. I will also design better robots creatively in the future," said Jiang Muchen, an elementary school student.

"I also play this type of robots. I saw their robots equipped with universal wheels and sensors to assist them to walk. I think we can also study these by ourselves," said Zhou Xiao, a senior high school student.

Many children have served not only as witnesses, but also participants in tech competitions.

"I will go to Beijing for a similar VEX robotics competition on Aug 7. It is also a competition on the white list of the Ministry of Education. I think I can learn something by watching RoboMaster so that I can get a better grade," said Huang Zigeng, a senior high school student.

Besides competitions, robotics-themed summer camps and tour studies have also been popular among students.

At an experience center in Shenzhen's Yantian District, children have been allowed to interact with different types of robots.

"I like assembly and programming code. Here I believe that artificial intelligence will really embrace great achievement and set the robots in motion," said Song Jianuo, an elementary school student.

"The most popular curricula are about artificial intelligence. They will be fully reserved in three to five days as soon as we roll out them. We've also introduced some intelligent robots, including Tiangong humanoid robots and products from Unitree," said Yang Kungang, manager of the center.
