Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called for consolidating political mutual trust and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation among China, Russia and Mongolia.
Xi made the remarks during a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh. The meeting was the seventh of its kind among the heads of the three states.
Xi called on the three countries to consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen solidarity and coordination, enhance mutual support, and respect each other's core interests and major concerns, serving as steadfast strategic anchors for their respective development and revitalization.
"With the smooth implementation of the medium-term roadmap for trilateral cooperation, the trade volume among the three countries has been rising steadily, and cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, ecological protection and culture has been continuously deepened. The key cooperation projects in the layout plan for building the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor have injected new impetus into the trilateral cooperation. Chinese often say, 'Just as a fence needs the support of three stakes, even an able fellow needs the help of three friends.' As we are friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers and sharing weal and woe, China is willing to work with Russia and Mongolia to consolidate political mutual trust, adhere to the original intention of cooperation, overcome external disturbances, and jointly promote high-quality development of trilateral cooperation," he said.
Putin expressed his gratitude to President Xi and Chinese people for warm hospitality.
"Russia is willing to develop mutually beneficial, equal and multi-field relations with China and Mongolia in an all-round way. Russia, China and Mongolia are all friendly neighboring countries, and our people are united by long-standing traditions, friendship and mutual support. We also believe that today's meeting will, as always, be open and effective, and will explore the main directions of our trilateral cooperation, and discuss the prospects of cooperation in the short and medium terms," he said.
Khurelsukh expressed Mongolia's dedication to advancing the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promoting regional development and prosperity.
"Mongolia has always been firmly committed to continuously deepening bilateral and trilateral relations in various fields with its two permanent neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners -- China and Russia, and expanding mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation. This meeting coincides with a series of historic victory commemoration events, thus holding special historical significance. The people of our three countries have always stood side by side to firmly safeguard the fruits of the victory and defend the truth of history. Historical facts should never be distorted and historical memories must not be tarnished," he said.
