A host of armaments for China's air defense and anti-missile operations were displayed in a grand military parade in Beijing's Tian'anmen Square on Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The group for air defense and anti-missile operations passed Tian'anmen Square with three formations featuring early-warning detection, anti-aircraft combat and anti-unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) systems.

The equipment in early-warning detection formation are all new generation of domestic-made highly mobile radars. In close coordination, they can detect stealth aircraft and ballistic missiles far and near. They provide early warning for the country's airspace and aerial security.

The anti-aircraft combat formation represents a heroic unit which has accomplished glorious wartime feats. Six types of air defense systems, including HQ-20, HQ-19 and HQ-29 have made appearance at Tian'anmen Square. They are capable of multi-phase and multi-layered missile interception, as well as air defense at long, medium and short ranges.

The anti-UAV systems formation includes anti-UAV missile-gun integrated system, high-energy laser weapons, and high-power microwave weapons. The three types of weapons form the powerful "trio" in the People's Liberation Army's anti-UAV system.

The air defense and anti-missile operations formations are one of the seven armament formation groups in the march-past, which were organized in a manner reflecting their functions in real combat.

The other six series of armament formations are the land combat group, maritime combat group, information warfare group, unmanned combat group, logistics and equipment support group, and strategic strike group.

The theme of the parade is to affirm the Chinese people's commitment to peace and the armed forces' determination to safeguard peace.

The UN must resolutely defend the victorious outcomes of World War II and reject any attempt to revive militarism, said China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Sun Lei on Thursday.

Sun made the remarks to the UN General Assembly (UNGA), following UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who addressed the meeting on priorities for 2026.

Guterres emphasized the three principles that guide the world body's work in 2026: adherence to the UN Charter, peace with justice -- peace between nations and peace with nature, and unity in an age of division.

All nations must resolutely uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, said Sun.

"The UN must resolutely defend the victorious outcomes of World War II and uphold the post-war international order, firmly oppose unilateralism and hegemony, and reject any attempt to revive militarism," he said.

The Chinese envoy said countries must advance the three pillars in a balanced manner.

"Peace and security, development, and human rights are mutually reinforcing, and none should be neglected," he said.

He also stressed reforming and improving global governance.

"China will work with all parties to firmly support multilateralism and the international system with the UN at its core, maintain peace, promote development, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity," said Sun.
