The strategic strike force, unveiled at China's V-Day military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, showcased China's advanced missile capabilities and underscored the nation's commitment to national security and global peace.

The highly-anticipated armaments displayed by the four formations of the strategic strike group included cruise missiles, hypersonic missiles, and two nuclear missiles formations.

In the cruise missiles formation, China unveiled its ChangJian-20A, YingJi-18C, and ChangJian-1000 cruise missiles, showcasing its long-range precise strike and multi-domain deterrence capabilities.

This was the first time that cruise missiles of the Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force units of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) had come together in a joint formation on parade.

"The ChangJian-1000 is China's first hypersonic cruise missile. Its maneuverability, penetration capabilities, and rapid launch readiness enable precise strikes against land, sea and air targets," said Zhou Mingjie, captain of the cruise missile formation.

Next came the hypersonic missiles formation, which demonstrated the all-weather combat capabilities of the YingJi-21, DongFeng-17, and DongFeng-26D missiles. These hypersonic missiles excel at breaking through defenses and can hit targets with high precision.

The first nuclear missile formation made a powerful statement with its display of JingLei-1 air-based long-range missile, the JuLang-3 submarine-launched intercontinental missile, the DongFeng-61 land-based intercontinental missile, and a new-type DongFeng-31 land-based intercontinental missile.

The weapons are deemed as China's powerful strategic "ace" to safeguard the country's sovereignty and the nation's dignity.

"The four types of equipment in the formation are crucial components of the nuclear triad. Its formal incorporation has boosted the officers and soldiers' confidence in defending the nation and in strengthening the military," said Ma Shaojun, vice captain of the first nuclear missile formation.

The second nuclear missile formation showcased China's liquid-fueled intercontinental strategic nuclear missile, the DongFeng-5C, which has a global strike range.

With these strategic weapons, China has forged a shield for peace.

"The Dongfeng-5C liquid-fueled intercontinental strategic nuclear missile, with its global reach, was unveiled as the final strategic weapon in the strategic strike group. Armed with this powerful weapon and shouldering a sacred mission, we maintain constant vigilance and effective deterrence," said Wang Liming, vice captain of the second nuclear missile formation.

The strategic strike force was one of the seven armament formation groups that took part in the march-past segment of military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The others were the land-based combat group, the maritime combat group, the air defense and anti-missile operations group, the information warfare group, the unmanned combat group, and the logistics and equipment support group.

The UN must resolutely defend the victorious outcomes of World War II and reject any attempt to revive militarism, said China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Sun Lei on Thursday.

Sun made the remarks to the UN General Assembly (UNGA), following UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who addressed the meeting on priorities for 2026.

Guterres emphasized the three principles that guide the world body's work in 2026: adherence to the UN Charter, peace with justice -- peace between nations and peace with nature, and unity in an age of division.

All nations must resolutely uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, said Sun.

"The UN must resolutely defend the victorious outcomes of World War II and uphold the post-war international order, firmly oppose unilateralism and hegemony, and reject any attempt to revive militarism," he said.

The Chinese envoy said countries must advance the three pillars in a balanced manner.

"Peace and security, development, and human rights are mutually reinforcing, and none should be neglected," he said.

He also stressed reforming and improving global governance.

"China will work with all parties to firmly support multilateralism and the international system with the UN at its core, maintain peace, promote development, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity," said Sun.
