China has led the formulation of hundreds of international standards during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), which helped related industries to enhance their international competitiveness, said an official in Beijing on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference, officials from the country's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) briefed the media on the progress that China has achieved in industrialization during the Five-Year Plan period.

Xiao Han, director of the SAMR's Standard Innovation Department, said that the international standards, with China playing a leading part in their formulation, have provide reliable guarantees for Chinese products like high-end equipment, key components, and large-scale integrated systems to qualify for the international market.

"In key areas such as high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing, China newly have taken on secretariat positions in 26 technical institutions of the International Organization for Standardization. Meanwhile, Chinese experts have newly served as chairpersons of 30 technical bodies. China has put forward 880 new proposals and led the formulation of 532 international standards in fields such as new energy vehicles, advanced power systems and aerospace," said Xiao.

As China is actively promoting the compatibility of domestic and international standard systems, 4,210 advanced and applicable international standards have been converted into China's national standards, with the conversion rate in key areas exceeding 90 percent.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday welcomed Iran's announcement that the Strait of Hormuz is completely open for all commercial vessels during the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire, said his spokesman.

"The secretary-general considers this a step in the right direction. The United Nations’ position remains clear: we need the full restoration of international navigational rights and freedoms in the Strait of Hormuz to be respected by all parties," said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN secretary-general, in a statement.

"The secretary-general remains fully supportive of the diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful path forward out of the current conflict in the Middle East. He also hopes that, together with the ceasefire, this measure will contribute to creating confidence between the parties and strengthen the ongoing dialogue facilitated by Pakistan," said the statement.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday declared that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to a 10-day ceasefire.

On Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi posted on X that the Strait of Hormuz is now declared completely open to commercial vessels during the remainder of the ceasefire.
