China Media Group (CMG) will air a celebration gala to mark the eighth Chinese farmers' harvest festival on Tuesday.

With the theme of "celebrating a bountiful harvest, enjoying a better life", the event includes four sections, mainly focusing on boosting consumption in both urban and rural areas, as well as carrying forward the excellent farming culture.

For the first time, the gala adopts a cross-provincial design, with venues being set in six different places, namely Lingwu City of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Renhuai City of southwest China's Guizhou Province, Zhenlai County of northeast China's Jilin Province, Chaozhou City of south China's Guangdong Province, Zhaoyuan City and Rongcheng City of east China's Shandong Province.

The gala is aimed to convey the joy of a bountiful harvest, showcasing the local specialty products from various regions.

A powerful winter storm swept through Toronto and surrounding areas on Thursday, causing school closures and travel delays as heavy snowfall reduced visibility and affected transportation services.

Meteorological authorities warned that heavy snowfall would greatly reduce visibility, while local transportation officials reported that several roads had been completely closed and major surface transit routes were operating at reduced speeds due to the storm.

Toronto Pearson International Airport officials announced Thursday that air traffic control measures had been implemented due to severe weather, affecting several inbound and outbound flights. Meanwhile, several local school boards in Toronto fully suspended classes, while others enacted partial closures in response to the storm.
