Li Xi, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Tuesday concluded an official goodwill visit to Belarus, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer practical cooperation.

During his visit on Sept. 20-23, Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, met separately with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Head of the President Administration Dmitry Krutoi, and Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko.

During his meeting with the Belarusian president, Li said China is willing to work with Belarus to fully implement the strategic plans reached between the two heads of state for further development of bilateral relations, enhance mutual support, firmly defend common interests, strengthen practical cooperation in various areas including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), uphold the correct view of World War II history, and safeguard the post-war international order.

Amid the accelerated century-defining transformation in the global landscape, China stands ready to work with Belarus to implement the Global Governance Initiative, strengthening coordination and cooperation within frameworks such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, he added.

During the meeting, Lukashenko said Belarus speaks highly of the achievements made in bilateral cooperation and will remain a most reliable, trustworthy and sincere friend of China.

Belarus fully supports and is willing to take active part in the implementation of the four China-proposed global initiatives -- the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, which Belarus believes will make tremendous contributions to a world of more balanced development, said the Belarusian president.

In meeting between Li and Krutoi, the two sides pledged closer exchanges and cooperation on party-building and anti-corruption.

When meeting with Sergeyenko, Li expressed the CPC's willingness to enhance exchange and dialogue with major political parties in Belarus on party governance and the improvement of global governance.

China is willing to share experiences and opportunities and make joint efforts with Belarus on the path towards modernization, Li said.

Noting that developing the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and China is a priority in Belarusian diplomatic policies, Sergeyenko said the practices in Chinese modernization have greatly inspired Belarus, and the Belarusian side is willing to join forces with China on the path to modernization.

During his four-day stay, Li also laid a wreath at the Victory Monument, inspected the China-Belarus Industrial Park, interacted with representatives of faculty from the Confucius Institute at Belarusian State University, and attended a symposium on promoting integrity in Belt and Road cooperation.
