A recent video captured a heartwarming scene of a giant panda caretaker laying down three adorable panda cubs on a blanket at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan Province, southwest China.
The footage, captured on Sept 8 at the base's Star Giant Panda Nursery House, shows the caretaker carefully put three cubs on the blanket, positioned on the grass in an enclosure. The cubs were seen sleeping and crawling, melting the hearts of visitors.
While two of the cubs depicted already have the classic white fur with black patches, one of the cubs has patches of gray fur due to a hereditary trait. As the bear grows, this gray fur is expected to become black.
The Chengdu base is a world-renowned center for the ex-situ conservation of giant pandas. It also serves as a hub for scientific research, public education and ecotourism. The institution is internationally recognized for its efforts to protect and breed giant pandas, red pandas and other endangered wildlife species native to China.
