The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.39 percent to 98.107 at 1900 GMT.
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1713 dollars from 1.1740 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3482 dollars from 1.3480 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 150.30 Japanese yen, higher than 147.50 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar slipped to 0.7953 Swiss francs from 0.7954 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3952 Canadian dollars from 1.3953 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.3806 Swedish kronor from 9.3619 Swedish kronor.
