Major Sports Events Committee awards "M" Mark status to three events

The following is issued on behalf of the Major Sports Events Committee:

The Major Sports Events Committee (MSEC) has awarded "M" Mark status to the Link Hong Kong Open 2025 (October 30 to November 2), the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 (November 7 to 9), and the BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025 (November 14 to 16).

The Chairman of the MSEC, Mr Wilfred Ng, said today (October 24), "The 'M' Mark events take place one after another. In the coming three weeks, we will first welcome three highly anticipated international sports events, namely the Link Hong Kong Open 2025, the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 and the BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025. All these events gather top players from around the world, showcasing Hong Kong's professionalism in hosting international competitions and its international influence. Among these, the BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025 will be the first e-sports tournament held in Hong Kong, which will bring a brand-new experience to both local citizens and global e-sports enthusiasts. I believe that the above sporting events will not only attract spectators from all over the globe, but also stimulate the local economy and drive growth in related sectors such as catering, retail and tourism, further enhancing Hong Kong's status as a capital of international sports events."

The "M" Mark System aims to encourage and help local National Sports Associations and private or non-government organisations to organise more major international sports events and nurture them into sustainable undertakings. Sports events meeting the assessment criteria will be considered for "M" Mark status by the MSEC. Funding support will also be provided to some events. The "M" Mark System aims to promote the development of major sports events, cultivate a sustainable sporting culture, enhance Hong Kong's image as a centre for major international sports events and bring tangible economic benefits to our community.
