China's logistics industry prosperity index, an index tracking prosperity of the country's logistics market, remained in an expansion territory in October as consumption potential has continued to be unleashed, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) said on Tuesday.

The index stood at 50.7 percent in October, down 0.5 percentage points from the previous month. Although the total logistics business volume index has seen a slight decline, overall demand continued to expand, according to CFLP.

"Due to the eight-day [National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival] holiday, industrial logistics demand represented by bulk commodities experienced a slight decline, while consumer logistics demand showed accelerated growth. [Key sub-indices including] logistics business completion index, new order index, logistics service price index, capital turnover index, employment index, investment completion index and expectation index all stayed in the expansion zone," said Vice President of CFLP He Hui.

According to CFLP, consumer logistics demand emerged as a highlight in October. During the holiday, offline stores, social and e-commerce platforms stimulated consumption potential, leading to accelerated commercial circulation and rapid growth in retail sales.

Meanwhile, e-commerce activities continued to thrive, with the total business volume index for the postal and express delivery industry reaching 70.5, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 0.4 percentage points.
